Something to rely on
20 years later, everything can be done online:
Lonely ? Social Media / Chat-apps
Hungry ? Food-apps
Bored ? Mobile games / Media-streaming platforms
Knowledge ? Online Learning platforms
I am guilty of the above, and I am more curious why does it feel OK to go back into a safe bubble that has been tailored, always available, non-judging, endorsing, resourceful. The next closest thing to replace the above descriptive, would be a DOG but i cannot bring a dog everywhere like my smartphone.
Water has no form and it can sculpt canyons and cut rocks. The path of least resistance is present in both nature and human world. Reminds me of my Geography lesson, Physical Geo and Social Geo... come to think of it, both categories has the underlying "path of least resistance"; How the faults tear, Why volcanoes erupt, Settlements popping up near rivers, Migration.
Be Like Water~
Overindulgence is akin to Hikikomori. There could be a day which it would be celebrated and not shunned. The recent pandemic actually saw huge reduction in consumption which kind-of enlightened many that sustenance of life doesn't require so much consumption of resources. I do not judge or advocate but it seems more that 躺平 and 摆烂 are actually how living things are supposed to be in the first place.
Technology is a force-multiplier and a knife that cuts both way. It is always the user "problem" and essentially, education and experience is the only way to inform / enlighten the people.
- Alcoholics and Druggies are aware of the risks of overindulgences but lack the self-discipline OR do they want to establish control in the first place. My concern is how to handle individuals or group who doesn't contribute to the economy or society, keep consuming resources AND create problems to the rest of the herd.
- Society is the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community. What happens when individuals don't play in accordance to the rules ? Re-education or Termination ?
